Android
Android is an operating system for mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers. It is developed by the Open Handset Alliance led by Google.
API - (Application Program Interface)
A message language and format used by an application program, to communicate with the operating system or any other control system or program, as a data base management system (DBMS) or communication protocol.
Bandwidth
Bandwidth is a frequency range measure. In general, a bandwidth is defined based on its lowest and highest frequency; it is measured in Hertz, kHz or MHz. A channel bandwidth is directly proportional to the number of data that can be transmitted through it by time unit.
BlackBerry
BlackBerry is a line of mobile e-mail and smartphone devices developed and designed by Canadian company Research In Motion (RIM) since 1999. BlackBerry devices are smartphones, designed to function as personal digital assistants, portable media players, internet browsers, gaming devices, and much more. They are primarily known for their ability to send and receive (push) e-mail and instant messages while maintaining a high level of security through on-device message encryption. Blackberry devices support a large variety of instant messaging features, including BlackBerry Messenger.
Desktop App
It is the application designed to run on a desktop computer, on a visual interface operating system like Windows or Linux.
Coverage
Refers to the zone within which a mobile phone is able to receive a reliable transmission of SMS, MMS and phone calls.
Gateway SMS
A product that enables the interconnection of its applications to text messaging.
GSM
Global system for mobile communications
HTTP Protocol
The Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is a networking protocol for distributed, collaborative, hypermedia information systems.[1] HTTP is the foundation of data communication for the World Wide Web.
Itinerancy
The capacity to make and receive calls and SMS through the same mobile phone when travelling outside the operator’s network zone.
IP / Internet Protocol
An industrial standard for communications among open systems. The internet protocol defines how the information travels among systems through the internet.
Java
Java is a software technology developed to provide a common base for the execution of applications in a broad range of computer platforms. It is composed of a programming language and a runtime environment.
Mobile operators
Companies that hold and exploit a mobile infrastructure.
Massive SMS
Massive SMS is a mobile messaging service which allows companies to send low or high volumes of SMS in a quick and efficient manner.
SMPP Protocol
The Short Message Peer-to-Peer (SMPP) protocol is a telecommunications industry protocol for exchanging SMS messages between SMS peer entities such as short message service centers and/or External Short Messaging Entities. It is often used to allow third parties (e.g. value-added service providers like news organizations) to submit messages, often in bulk.

SMTP Protocol
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) is an Internet standard for electronic mail (e-mail) transmission across Internet Protocol (IP) networks. SMTP was first defined by RFC 821 (1982, eventually declared STD 10), and last updated by RFC 5321 (2008) which includes the extended SMTP (ESMTP) additions, and is the protocol in widespread use today.
SOAP Protocol
SOAP, originally defined as Sufficiently Obfuscated Access Protocol, is a protocol specification for exchanging structured information in the implementation of Web Services in computer networks. It relies on Extensible Markup Language (XML) for its message format, and usually relies on other Application Layer protocols, most notably Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) and Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), for message negotiation and transmission.

Web App
These are applications that users can use a web server accessed via the Internet or an intranet with a browser.
XML
Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a set of rules for encoding documents in machine-readable form. It is defined in the XML 1.0 Specification produced by the W3C, and several other related specifications, all gratis open standards.
